The Impact of Early Interventions on Long-Term Outcomes of Combat Trauma: Enhancing the ADVANCE Study

Hypothesis

Medical and surgical intervention at the point of trauma will have a demonstrable impact on long-term outcomes, e.g. development of chronic pain, and cardiovascular health.

Summary

The project will investigate whether point-of-trauma medical and surgical interventions have a significant effect on long-term medical, psychosocial, pain, functional and quality-of-life outcomes. Initially, this project will take a particular focus on analgesia and blood products administered at the point of injury, and on the amount of time between injury and the first intervention. The hypothesis is that medical and surgical intervention at the point of trauma will have a demonstrable impact on long-term outcomes, e.g. development of chronic pain, and cardiovascular health. The JTTR data will be analysed to review the effect of intervention.
