Hypothesis
- VEGFA, IL6 and IL6/IL10 ratio will be raised in a chronic cohort of TBI patients (vs. non-exposed and non-TBI exposed controls).
- In TBI patients, there will be a correlation between these cytokines and initial injury alongside CT features, and functional outcomes.
Summary
I have analysed an acute TBI cohort (the CREACTIVE cohort) and found a number of plasma cytokines (mainly IL6 and VEGF-A) to be related to severity, outcome and clinical features. I would like to see if a similar result can be replicated in a more chronic cohort. This project will investigate whether the associations between plasma cytokines and clinical features found in an acute TBI cohort are also evident in a chronic cohort.
